Dear Santa, Will You Repent My Sins?

Have you ever wondered why there are no ‘Mall Gods,’ but plenty of ‘Mall Santa Clauses?’ Christian kids get to enjoy a figurative replication of their mythological idol in their local malls, but the adults get absolutely nothing, it’s down right ridiculous.

Oh wait… the lack of ‘Mall Gods’ isn’t actually a problem. Why do you ask? Because people still think God is real! With a little bit of faith, Santa Claus is just as real for kids as God is real for adults. Religious adults find it so cute that their children believe in a fictional deity. Well I find it adorable how +90% of the American population believes in God.

Santa Claus and God surprisingly have a lot in common:

Santa Claus judges kids on whether they have been naughty or nice. In his holy scriptures he claims you should be good for goodness sakes. Similarly, God will judge your behaviors on the merit of “because I said so.” Both deities punish bad behavior; receiving coal for Christmas is no worse than hell for a young Christian child. But don’t worry; they will both listen to your repenting via telepathy or the US postal service. And if communicating with them isn’t enough, you could always express your love for them by singing Christmas carol or Christian rock music.

What made Christian kids stop believing in Santa Claus? Was it an amounting pile of evidence that contradicted his existence? Or did they just discard faith as a valuable tool to justify their beliefs? Neither, their parents just told them he isn’t real. Not only did the parents deny his existence, but so did the friends, siblings, community, and entire society! The fight against God requires strength in numbers, not of knowledge.

God of religion does not exist. But spirituality is on the rise. Heaven, as a separate place, doesn't exist! It was used as a tool to manipulate people into giving up their power for the "greater good", with promises of "72 virgins" and heaven for a live of servitude here on earth.

God does not care what you do, because God created the world for us to discover, for ourselves, who wish to be experientially. We have direct contact with God, all the time, we called it a "conscience", you know that knowing you having about right and wrong that, well you just seem to know. When you go against it you suffer, but not because you are being punished by God so much as punished by your own knowing that you did something that is NOT WHO YOU ARE, or who you want to be.

The ten commandments are mislabeled. I believe them to be guides, like someone telling you not to touch a hot stove because you will burn yourself. The ten commandments are a list of things that if you do them you will suffer, because you will be breaking natural laws that have effects that you will find unpleasant.

We are far more powerful than most of us imagine, religion takes this from us. We all know this deep down, perhaps this is why so many are now so angry with religion, and rightfully so, but don't take it out on God. It is our fault for allowing ourselves to be mislead, now is the time to trust our experiences. There are no coincidences.. if you test this theory out you will find God very quickly. It will be proven to you in your experience. If you haven't been paying attention to your experience up to this point now is a good time to start looking for how God is talking to you in your own life. Religion is chalk for of hypocrisy, but the truth is there, God is all powerful.. what does that leave out? Anything that contradicts this statement should be discarded as misunderstandings. God is all things, the seen and unseen, there is nothing that God is not, including you. So by this you yourself are apart of God, and extension, hence you are literally "made in the image of God" .. not the physical looks, but the stuff, the same stuff of God.

There are no benefits to the churches ideology, but there are vast benefits to knowing God personally in your life, the benefits include peace, and the ability to relax in a world that you BELONG IN, and are apart of. You where not born into this world so much as grew out of it. God is here to assist you in creating the life of your dreams, for you are here to choose, who you want to be, and you can only do that by choosing. Look around you and choose who you want to be in relation to the events around you then focus on what you WANT not what you don't want.

We are a society of complainers. You get what you focus on, no wonder we've had such a struggle up to this point. It's time to stop complaining and say YES to what is good in this life and stop giving power to that which we don't want.

Ah, well the choice is always yours. And it matters not which choice you make, for in the end you will know, without a doubt, as you remember. Wouldn't you rather remember now, while your still alive? It makes life so much easier... and more fun.

Mythological idol for Christian kids? Huh, Santa Claus is completely secular...he's just a cheap derivation of St. Nikolaus who's been stripped of everything religious.

I think it's a combination of kids' parents telling them that Santa doesn't exist along with finding out that their parents are the ones who are fulfilling Santa's duties that causes kids to stop believing. Just their parents telling them that Santa doesn't exist wouldn't be enough to convince them that he doesn't if presents magically appeared under the Christmas tree on Christmas, with no aid from the parents.

And that's the major difference between God and Santa Claus: God cannot be disproven. Whereas Santa cannot exist and retain the attributes he is described as having. So if you're going to make the comparison valid, it really is essential that you reinvent Santa in such a way that Santa could possibly exist. But when you do that, you'll find that it's not as easy to dismiss his existence.

Andy,

But God is just as easy to 'disprove' as Santa Claus; the fundamentalist God that is. Prayers not being answered is just one example amongst many. In both cases the parents/community tries to 'prove' to you that God/Santa is real, with fake proof none the less. The only reason kids let go of the Santa belief is because they are appealing to a higher authority. Those who believe God constantly have this 'fake proof' flashing in front of their eyes.

Scientists have shown that some electromagnetic fields are alive. This provides evidence of angels, demons, satan and God. We have also completed proof-of-concept for many miracles.

You know, when I was visiting Austria during the Chirstmas season, there was an interesting tradition where people would dress up (with masks and bats) and go around beating the crap out of people. I beleive they were supposed to be called the "krampus". Someone got hurt the year before, so they all had to register and wear numbers the year I was there. Very odd.

I was molested by Santa.

"What's the difference between God and Santa Claus?"

That's a question that my dad (an atheist/agnostic) posed to me when I was a kid (the priests at my Catholic school had managed to temporarily make me a believer). I remember being stumped and saying "Let me think about it. I'll come up with a good answer." And I eventually did.

The people who perpetuate the Santa Claus myth don't actually believe their own lies!
